Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Elkan Baggott on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old defender joins the Seasiders from Premier League outfit Ipswich Town, having impressed in the second half of last season on loan at Bristol Rovers in Sky Bet League One.

An Indonesian international, Baggott came through the Ipswich Academy before gaining first-team minutes on loan at Kings Lynn, Gillingham, Cheltenham Town and the Gas.

The central defender has been capped 24 times by Indonesia and standing at six foot five inches tall, adds a commanding, physical presence to Pool’s backline ahead of the new season.

On joining the Seasiders, Baggott said:

“It’s a great feeling to finally be here and I’m excited to play my part in what will hopefully be a successful season for the Club.

“I’ve had some good conversations with the Head Coach and Sporting Director over recent weeks. The way the team plays, the group that is already here – it’s all extremely positive. I know a number of other players who are here too and they’ve all had good things to say.

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and can’t wait to get started!”
