Fleetwood Town FC have confirmed their new signing of Owen Devonport.

One out, one in! As Drew Baker was confirmed to be departing the club last week, Devonport has joined the Development Squad on an 18-month contract and will most likely stay at Fleetwood Town until May 2025.

The club confirmed this on their website on Monday, stating that the 19-year-old will immediately go on loan to King’s Lynn Town (National League North side), staying there for the remainder for this season.

Devonport made 57 appearances for Accrington Stanley (scoring 18 goals), where Fleetwood signed him from, and had loan spells with Clitherow and Padiham.

The Lancashire boy, born in Burnley, was spoken about by Fleetwood’s Academy Manager (Jack Higgins) when he said:

“We are pleased to have signed Owen because he's someone we have liked for a while and we've been monitoring his progress at Accrington Stanley.”

“As a Club, we've always found it hard to play against him as he's an old-school number nine who holds the ball up well and brings his teammates into play. With Owen joining, we've wanted to challenge him from the word go and that resulted in him immediately going on loan to King's Lynn Town.”

"We will review his progress from afar but we feel this is a great opportunity for him to be part of our Development Programme and help him get a career in the professional game."
