Police have launched an investigation after a Blackpool taxi driver was allegedly caught engaging in sexual behaviour in his car while parked up in a high rise car park.
The C Cabs car, clearly marked in the firm’s livery, was filmed by a social media personality while the driver was in the vehicle, seemingly with another person, while parked on the top level of the Blackpool car park in the daytime.
The video has gone viral on TikTok after the content creator was filmed approaching the vehicle in question, with the clip garnering over 538,000 views on the popular social media platform since it was uploaded three days ago.
This footage, which appeared to have been taken on the Sainsbury’s high-rise car park on Talbot Road in the town centre, was sent to the Blackpool Gazette by a concerned reader, who said she was disturbed by the content of the video.
C Cabs, a long established firm which has been operating in Blackpool for around 60 years, was contacted by the Gazette but the firm said it was unable to comment as the matter was being investigated by the police.
However, in email correspondence between the concerned reader and the taxi firm seen by the Gazette, a response from the company suggested that the driver has been dismissed and reported to both the police and licencing authorities as a result of the video.
Lancashire Police issued a brief statement into the matter after being approached, saying: “This has been reported to us and our enquiries are ongoing.” Licensing authority Blackpool Council was also approached but said it was unable to comment.
