Cleveleys will be playing host to a four-day Continental Market for the first time this summer.

The event is being organised by Merseyside-based RR Events, which puts on more than 40 similar events across the UK each year.

It is being staged at The Plaza event space, on the seafront where the top end of Victoria Road West meets South Promenade.

The market will feature between 20 and 25 stalls, including a small number of local stallholders from the Cleveleys area.

    When is it coming?

The market will be staged from Thursday August 20 to Sunday August 23.

Opening times are: Thursday to Saturday at 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

The RR Events team will also be providing Continental Market stalls at Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival the week before, from Friday August 14 to Sunday August 16.

That event is being organised by Wyre Council -owned Fleetwood Market and sponsored by a number of fish merchants from the town.

    What will it include?

The Continental Market at Cleveleys will feature a selection of unique items from across the world. There will be examples of tasty Greek, Thai and Mexican food, as well as fresh produce such as olives, cheeses, macaroons and Tiramisu, among others.

There will also be handcrafted goods such as rugs from Asia, wood carvings from Africa and selection of items from South America.

    What they say

Joanne Evans, office manager for RR Events, said: “We’ve been going for 15 years and have been all over the country but this will be our first time in Cleveleys so we’re really looking forward to it.

“I regularly come to Blackpool and St Annes for days out and I love the seafront there.

“i know that sometimes people are a bit wary coming to these kind of markets because they are worried about the price but we’ve arranged it that all the food stalls will be offering a £5 affordable meal deal on the day.

“There’s no pressure to buy, people can just come along and see what’s on offer.”
