More than 1,500 helped to paint the beach for Trinity Hospice at Blackpool Colour Run

More than 1,500 people helped to paint the beach on Saturday, running 3km through seven powdered paint stations in aid of Trinity Hospice.

Blackpool Colour Run returned to Starr Gate beach, with an impressive turn out of people willing to get completely colourful in the name of charity.

And organisers at Trinity say they are blown away by the support from people who made a donation or raised sponsorship for taking part in the event, which is expected to have raised more than £35,000 for local hospice care.

Events Manager Kayleigh Penn said: “Blackpool Colour Run is by far our most colourful event, and we absolutely love seeing just how vibrant our runners look as they cross the finish line and collect their well-earned medal.

“From start to finish, this event never fails to bring hundreds of smiles, and we’re thrilled at how many people joined us to truly paint the beach. We’re so lucky to be able to hold Blackpool Colour Run on an iconic Blackpool beach, bringing an extra touch of Blackpool to our incredible supporters.

“We already know how much has been donated and pledged in sponsorship, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has made a difference in this way. But it’s incredible to think that if every single person who took part in Blackpool Colour Run raised just £30 in sponsorship, it would mean a massive £45,600 for Trinity Hospice – a fantastic amount to ensure that every single person on the Fylde coast gets the exceptional hospice care they need, wherever they are.”

Blackpool Colour Run was supported by paint station sponsors Beaverbrooks and Eric Wright Group.
