Ahead of its notorious 'Journey To Hell Freak Nights' and Halloween events, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has teased some rather scary, unexplained footage from its historic Ghost Train.
Legend has it that Cloggy haunts the Ghost Train; a Ride Operator that was dedicated to his work and affectionately named after the shoes he wore and the sound they made.
Built in 1930, the Pleasure Beach's pretzel ride was reimagined in 1936 as the world’s first ever Ghost Train. Sightings of Cloggy have been plenty with guests and staff reporting hearing his clog footsteps echoing through the ride.
As two guests journeyed through the ride's dark, eerie tunnels, both reported to staff that they felt an 'eerie presence,' brush behind them as they ventured round the bend.
Staff immediately investigated and checked CCTV footage, only to find a sinister, ghostly figure floating through the ride.
Andy Hygate, Director of Operations said: “Whenever guests report something on a ride it is with utmost importance that we ensure we thoroughly investigate any claims made."
“Upon reviewing the footage, it was brought to our attention that a ghoul-looking figure was lurking inside the Ghost Train. Our team are currently investigating and trying to find the likely cause. Our engineering staff carried out meticulous checks of the ride and can confirm nothing was found.”
Could this CCTV footage be the first official sighting of the legend of Cloggy?
Andy added “We cannot confirm nor deny whether this is Cloggy. Customer care is our number one priority and whilst we continue to investigate, the Ghost Train will still be operating. We have no further comments to make at this time apart from a warning to all of our guests to make sure they only go on our Ghost Train if they are brave enough. We can’t guarantee there won’t be something lurking in the dark. This mystery is yet to be explained…”
