The Food Standards Agency gave the popular Blackpool Restaurant a zero hygiene rating after its inspection.
Mr Basrai's World Cuisine restaurant, which is on the corner of Talbot Road and Cookson Street, gives diners the chance to experience an international buffet featuring Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian, Italian, Mexican, American & British food, all self-served to their content.
The restaurant is popular with large groups of diners, its large spacious design has bain-marie rows containing the pre-cooked foods as well as fresh cooked stations, however, after it was visited by inspectors on the 22nd of March it was hit with a Zero rating.
The report found that their was a need for "Major Improvement" in the following areas:
- Hygienic Food Handling
Improvement was needing improvement in the hygienic handling of food, including the processes of; preparing, cooking, re-heating, cooling & storage.
- Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities on site and the building, around having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and pest-control to enable for good food hygiene.
- Management of food safety
The systems or checks that are in place to ensure that the food sold or served is safe for consumption, that relevant evidence to show that staff know about food safety, and that the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
Mr Basrai's owners have been approached for comment & will update when appropriate.
