New owners of one of Blackpool’s most prominent seafront hotels have got a new name and new look planned.
Daish’s Blackpool Hotel on the North Shore promenade is a substantial property which has been run by Daish’s Coach Holidays for a number of years.
But the family-owned UK company, which provides package holidays by coach to its own chain of hotels, has now sold it and is looking to move into other areas of the country.
The new owners of the Blackpool hotel are a small family group led by father and son Declan Scully and his son Leo.
They acquired the 70-bed hotel a week ago, for an undisclosed sum, and are to rename it the Hotel Santamaria.
A new colour scheme is also proposed, switching the grey external walls and blue signage to a magnolia shade.
Declan said: “My son will be handling the marketing side and I’ll be overseeing the hotel and trying to make people happy!
“Theere is tremendous loyalty to this hotel from customers, with people coming back and even trying to book the same room.
“Our idea is to bring TLC to the building and happiness to the guests and make sure they have a lovely stay and will want to come back.
“We have total confidence in the holiday sector in Blackpool, we think it’s flourishing and that’s why we’re here.”
Daish’s Blackpool Hotel, as it is still named, has a staff of around 30 but Declan says he is not in a position to discuss the subject of employment contracts at this stage.
He does, however, say that customers who booked Christmas breaks through Booking.com, when the hotel was owned by Daish’s, are still able to come to the hotel, as arranged.
The situation is not so straightforward for those who booked via Daish’s, as their stays were tied to coach travel booked via that company. Daish’s say those customers have been offered refunds or the chance to stay at other hotels run by the company.
Declain added: “We’re already taking new bookings and will be busy up to the Christmas period. We expect to have our new name and signing in place in about a month’s time.
“We have kept the same phone number so we are ready to hear from anyone who wants to stay here – they’ll be very welcome.”
