Hackett's has seen a string of Fire's, Break-ins & Vandalism since its closure in 2018

The Fire, which is the latest in many at the abandoned hotel, closed a section of the Promenade for several hours over the weekend.

Fire and Rescue Lancashire have confirmed that an investigation is under way into the cause of another fire, which led to six engines being called out from Blackpool, Bispham, South Shore, Fleetwood, St Annes and Fulwood, with the extent of the blaze also requiting the attendance of an aerial ladder platform being dispatched from Morecambe.

This is not the first time there has been a fire here, with Fire services being called multiple times to the hotel since it shut down five years ago in 2018.

The Hotel has seen a string of break-ins, vandals and fly tippers since its closure, with its ground floor being fully boarded up by the council in 2020 after numerous complaints from local residents and hotels.

The Hackett's was also the scene of a major fire in December 2020, the blaze spread across all four flours of the derelict hotel, ripping through the upper parts of the building, with Fire services from multiple stations responding to the incident.

During the pandemic last year urban explorers took a look inside the building, finding that inside there was a stockpile of hand sanitiser, and eerily, a number of abandoned mannequins.

The fire on Saturday, which looks to be mainly confined to the upper floors, led to traffic having to be diverted, with the diversions in place on Queens Promenade, which reopened at around 1:45am

A Lancashire Police spokesman said the matter remains with Lancashire Fire and Rescue to conduct an investigation to establish cause of the fire, adding: “If it becomes suspicious then it’ll be passed to us – that hasn’t happened yet.”
