Some of the ones up for contention are; Sweep Caroline, Meryl Sweep or Basil Brush
A new specialist sweeper will soon be used to help clear pathways in parks around Fylde & the Council are looking for a "good luck" name.
The Council will be taking suggestions for the street sweeper for the next few weeks and will then compile a shortlist of the names by February with the owner of the lucky name winning a family pass for free minigolf at Fairhaven Lake & Gardens.
The new scarab MC110 sweeper is being introduced to replace the old vehicle which was hired to keep the paths clear at Fairhaven Lakes & Gardens over the summer months. After seeing the vehicle in action however the Fylde Council's Parks team have decided to add one to their arsenal to ensure that the green spaces are kept in tip top condition.
The Chairman of the tourism and leisure committee, Councillor Michael Sayward, said "I'm delighted to see that the new sweeper is almost ready for action and that our parks staff are keen to get it into service. This investment was strongly backed by myself and fellow members, particularly Councillors Michelle Morris, Cheryl Little, and Ellie Guant of Fairhaven Ward, and the leader of the Fylde, Councillor Karen Buckley. We are all delighted to see it arrive and help keep our parks at an award-winning standard".
