
A bus crashed this morning at rush hour just outside the Savoy Hotel in Blackpool.
The number 4 which has had its service suspended due to the incident, was travelling North towards Fleetwood when the incident happened at around 8:25 this morning (17th January)
Emergency services personnel were on the scene quickly to asses the damage.
As well as the driver, a number of passengers were onboard at the time of impact and were checked for injuries. The driver was later taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but no further details have been given about his condition.
The reason for the crash is still unclear but there was snow fall overnight causing icy conditions on the Fylde Coast roads this morning. The bus was reported to have hit a number of kerbs in the build up to the crash before crossing lanes and colliding with post and a wall.
A spokesperson for Blackpool Transport said "We are currently working closely with the police and other stakeholders to ascertain the cause of the accident. Our driver is currently receiving medical care in Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Our thoughts are currently with the driver and the customers who were on board the bus today."
Five customers were onboard the Number 4, destined for Cleveleys before the incident happened, they were treated by paramedics swiftly.
