    St Chads Hotel

St Chads Terrace and Hotel was finished in 1893.

Sitting as a prominent feature on Blackpool Central Promenade for over 100 years, the St Chads hotel had been a popular holiday destination with tourists for its sea front views up until its sudden closure in 2021.

Fences have now appeared surrounding the vacant property, leading to fears from the public that the iconic building is up for destruction.

The hotel, built in 1893 as part of the St. Chads Terrace, later being considerably enlarged by the Whittaker family, who bought up the adjacent properties on the terrace, However, the hotel is now owned by a Singapore company Fragrance with UK-based  RBH Hospitality management owning the businesses.

    St Chads

The St Chads Hotel has been one of Blackpool's most Prominent buildings, with the Lyndene next door, but then in 2021, However, staff at both hotels were told that they no longer had any jobs for them, to make things worse, staff where also notified that they would not be receiving any of their final furlough or wage packets after both businesses were dissolved.

Since then, the Lyndene hotel reopened in May 2022, after the management of the buildings was bought out by RBH hospital management, but St Chads was not re-opened and has been left empty since. with the property now looking to be set for demolition, except there seems to be no one who knows what is actually happening

a buisiness local to the hotel spoke to LancsLive about the hotel, they said "It's definitely being prepared for demolition, but we don't know when it's happening.

"We know the Lyric Hotel was bought by the same people who own St Chad's, and the people in the flats have been gone at least two years now. It will probably be another hotel, because clearly Blackpool needs more of them."

however, there has been no information towards a demolition, another local business said "We've not seen any signage or notices up to say that it's getting demolished. We haven't seen any planning permission. There's workmen there, there's fences been put up this week, but we've had no letters or anything that it's coming down."

The general comment from the local are is that there is an air of the unknown surrounding the plan around the hotel building. A Blackpool Council spokesperson said "The council have not received any planning application in regards to this property."

Only time will tell what plans are in store for this historic building.
