The Windmill Players present Better Off Dead, a laugh-out-loud comedy by Alan Ayckbourn.

“Better Off Dead” is a laugh-out-loud comedy centred on the larger-than-life and notoriously irascible crime writer Algy Waterbridge. Set in Algy’s garden and summer house, where he is hard at work on his 33rd crime novel, the story springs to life as his latest creation unfolds before our eyes. His blunt Yorkshire detective, DCI Tommy Middlebrass, and his loyal sidekick, DS Gemma Price, step off the page to investigate another baffling case.

As fiction and reality begin to blur, a colourful cast of characters, unexpected twists and plenty of comic confusion keep the audience guessing. But beneath the laughs lies a touching story about a cantankerous old man who may not be quite as grumpy as he seems! A warm-hearted comedy packed with mystery, mayhem and memorable characters.
