Northern Rail's 'Flash Sale' goes live with cheap train tickets on Northern routes.

Today saw Northern Rail's 'Flash Sale' scheme go live to the public, slashing the usual prices of train fare for journey's across the North of England significantly. Tickets went on sale at 10am this morning (10th January) and will remain on sale until Friday 13th January at 4pm.

Northern have said up to one million 50p tickets, three million £1 tickets and one million £1.50 tickets have been made available to the general public for purchase; although these tickets are only valid between Tuesday 17th January and Friday 10th March. The tickets will also only apply to Northern Rail operated services.

Northern Rail is the second largest train operator in the UK, employing around 7,000 people across their network. "We provide nearly 2,000 local and regional services everyday to more than 500 stations.". They estimate more than "100 million passenger journeys are made on [there] network each year".
