A new and exciting 3v3 junior football weekend is heading to Blackpool.

Active Blackpool are launching a 3v3 football event at Common Edge Community Sports Village, between Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December.

The mini tournament will see over 150 junior football teams compete against each other on the new Common Edge facilities, after a recent £5,000 investment a new 3v3 ‘air pitch’.

‘Air pitches’ are inflatable football pitches with small nets at either end.

Common Edge Community Sports Village was officially opened in the Summer of 2023, as part of a £6 million pound investment scheme.

The schemed included implementing 14 new grass football pitches, a full-scale 3G football pitch and small building with changing rooms, community rooms and other facilities.

The new area was officially opened by Manchester United footballer Jess Simpson and is based on Division Lane, West, in Blackpool.

Active Blackpool are aiming to use this fun weekend to try and motivate more people to take up grassroots football.

The goal is that the new air pitch facilities will help attract youngsters of all abilities to come down and play football.

As well getting involved in football, Active Blackpool are keen to make sure young people across Blackpool are living an active and healthy lifestyle in more ways than one.

They have various leisure centres across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde, including Blackpool Sports Centre, Palatine Leisure Centre and Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre, offering gym facilities, fitness classes, swimming lessons and more.
