Work is finally set to start on a new 12-hole mini adventure golf course at a Blackpool golfing centre.

The Tee Time Golf Centre on Fleetwood Road in Norbreck was granted planning permission from Blackpool Council last July to build the new ambitious amenity on a piece of spare land.

However, before work could start on the project, a large number of planning conditions needed to be discharged, including measures relating to the height of structures around the holes, drainage, and biodiversity.

Now those conditions have now been met, and work is expected to begin this month.

It is hoped that the course can be ready for the public to use by June this year, in time for the summer holidays.

Andy Lee, owner of Tee Time,  which also includes darts lanes and pool tables, said: “It’s been a long process – two years in the making after our application went in back in February 2024.

“It’s been frustrating that we haven’t been able to start because we just wanted to provide something for the local community.

“We’re just glad to get it over the line and start the building process and, if all things come together, we’re hoping to be ready for opening in June.

“We’re really excited about it, people have told me how much they are looking forward to it and there has been a huge groundswell of interest from customers and residents.”

    What will it include?

The new golf course, proposed with families in mind, attracted huge support, with around 150 representations lodged in favour of the plans prior to planning approval last year.

The holes will be themed around local heritage sites and landmarks such as Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Zoo, and the Illuminations.

One of the holes will have a beach theme and will include one of the original Elmer elephant exhibits from the high profile parade in Blackpool in 2024.

The final hole will have a spectacular Winter Gardens theme.

Despite the huge support for the scheme, there were also 10 objections, including those from worried near-neighbours who feared there would be noise and balls being hit into their gardens.

Those concerns triggered a call for the proposals to go before councillors for consideration at last year’s planning committee.

Mr Lee told the meeting that there would be hedgerows and trees on the site to act as buffers to neighbouring properties and that the people using the new amenity would predominately be families.

He added this week: “It will be a great asset for this part of town and I can’t wait for it to open.”
