Residents in part of Blackpool’s North Shore are to learn more about an updated masterplan which can help improve their area.

The ‘Our Claremont: People’s Plan’ launched online last Sunday after being put together by local residents.

The Plan, created by local people, for local people, sets out a shared vision for a stronger, more connected and thriving Claremont, built through months of conversation, collaboration and community ideas.

Its aim is to ensure the area is ready for capital investment which can revitalise the area, listed as one of the most deprived in the country.

Supported by Blackpool Council and funded by Homes England, the Plan has been facilitated by local charity Magic Club with the community.

Developed with residents from across the Claremont ward, the People’s Plan brings together ideas, priorities and lived experiences gathered through workshops, local groups and conversations involving 148 residents aged seven to 70-plus.

It sets out key themes identified by the community, including Homes, Community, Access to Work, Health and Happiness and Environment, along with both immediate ‘quick wins’ and long-term ambitions.

The People’s Plan an update on an original masterplan first launched in 2020 during the Covid pandemic.

From launch day, the Plan will be available to read online at www.ourclaremont.org.uk

Following the digital launch on Sunday, updates and highlights from the Plan will be shared each day for one week across social media.

Residents can follow the journey and join the discussion via our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Residents are also invited to a community drop-in event at Claremont Park Community Centre on Thursday December 4 from 3.30pm to 6pm, to keep the conversation going.

    What they say

Laura White, chief operating officer at The Magic Club, said: “This is a relaxed opportunity to meet the team behind the Plan, ask questions, share ideas and find out how you can get involved in the next steps.

“The launch of the People’s Plan marks a new way for Claremont voices to be heard in the future of our community.

“As the Plan emphasises, this is the start of a new conversation for Claremont, with loads of opportunities for people to get involved, contribute ideas and help shape what happens next.

“We are committed to ongoing dialogue, continued listening and building long-term partnership working with residents, organisations and services.”
