Moor Park Primary School is considering ambitions plans to extend its SEND provision and has launched a consultation with a range of groups about the proposals.
The school, based on Moor Park Drive in Bispham, is looking at changes to two of its existing ameniries at the school, The Halo and The Hive, which already offer provision for SEND (Special Educational Needs) pupils.
Apart of its consultation exercise, the school has put a notice on its website to let parents know what is being considered.
The plans would see the current SEND amenities extended to benefit Blackpool as a whole.
The statement says: “Moor Park is seeking views on a proposed significant change to our school.
“This consultation is part of our commitment to transparency and community engagement, in line with Department for Education guidelines.
“We are proposing to turn our temporary SEND provisions, The Halo and The Hive, into permanent SEND units for 24 pupils, aged Reception to Year 6.
“This change is intended to support SEND provision across Blackpool.”
The school is inviting feedback ftom parents and carers, pupils, school staff and governors, local residents and community groups, Blackpool Council, neighbouring schools and other relevant stakeholders.
The consultation began on November 28 and runs until December 19.
Those wishing to express their views are invited to do so by email or by wrting to the Synergy Educational Trust, wih both sets of details available on the school webiste.
The notice, authored by headteacher Miss Faye Haslam, adds that all responses will considered before a decision is made. A summary of feedback and the school’s reponse will be published on the school website and send to the DfE.
