Man and woman plead guilty to kidnapping offence in Blackpool

Two people have admitted to kidnapping a baby in Blackpool.

Police were called to Carlyle Avenue at 10.17am on 19th August 2022 following reports a 10-month-old girl had been kidnapped.

By 11.10am officers had identified and arrested two suspects and safely returned the child.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Michael Wellings, 50, of Housman Close, Blackpool, and Lisa Green, 52, of Haddon Road, Blackpool, were charged with kidnap.

Both defendants appeared in the dock at Preston Crown Court on 16th October where they pleaded guilty to the single count of kidnap.

They will be sentenced at a later date following the conclusion of unrelated legal proceedings.
