A well known public house popular with Fylde coast residents is proposing an extension to enhance its amenities and beer garden provisions
The Horns Inn, on The Avenue in Churchtown, has submitted an application to Wyre planners for an external shelter for customer dining with accessible toilets to provide beer garden toilet fasciitis for wheelchair users.
A Planning Statement in support of the application stated: “The proposal seeks permission for a modest ancillary extension to the existing hospitality facilities at the site through the provision of a timber cabin dining area, designed to enhance customer accommodation and improve the operational viability of the business.
“The proposed development has been designed to integrate with the existing public house setting and provide additional seating capacity, while maintaining the character and appearance of the site and surrounding area.
“The application site comprises part of the established grounds of the public house.
“ The proposed development is located within the curtilage of the existing public house and does not involve the expansion of the site boundary.”
The proposal comprises:
• Erection of a timber cabin restaurant seating area with accessible toilets for wheelchair users to prevent access to the main public house.
• Provision of an accessible seating area
• Associated hardstanding and pedestrian access works where required.
The statement adds: “The cabin will be used solely in connection with the existing public house operation.
“No separate use is proposed, and no additional kitchen facilities are required as food preparation will continue to take place within the existing premises..
“ The development is considered acceptable in planning terms and planning permission is respectfully requested.”
