A Fylde coast firm of funeral directors has lodged plans to use an empty corner property for its business operations.
Lytham Funeral Service Ltd, of Clifton Street in the town, is seeking planning permission to use Fermont House, on nearby South Cliftron Street, as a funeral directors.
The full planning application, submitted to Fylde Council includes minor external alterations to the fenestration, a new vehicular access and a freestanding sign.
A planning statement on behalf of the applicants said: “After seeking the advice of the Local Planning Authority, the applicant was advised that a change of use of the premises would be required for its use as a funeral directors
“Fairmont House is a long, single-storey red brick building occupying a corner plot at the junction of South Clifton Street and Station Road.
“The most recent use of the premises seems to have been that of an embroidery manufacturer
“Through the proposed development, the Heritage Impact Assessment acknowledges that it will maintain an active use of the premises, preventing vacancy and deterioration.
“In addition, the minor fenestration details are considered to be sympathetic in scale, proportion and material. “
The statement concludes: “Overall, the proposal represents a sustainable form of development that will make a positive contribution to the character and vitality of the area, while safeguarding the amenities of neighbouring uses and the significance of designated heritage assets.”
