South Shore resident Steven Parr says he has been fed up with the unsightly litter close to his home for years.
The crisp wrappers, sweet papers, cans and bottles, along with a discarded chair, have been dumped on a public right of way path that leads from Harrowside to the Pleasure Beach train station.
Mr Parr, 71, lives in a block of flats which overlooks the site, and he says he can clearly see the mess when he looks out of the window.
He also says the untidy scene creates a bad impression on visitors who arrive and depart on the trains.
The rubbish has been discarded on land owned by both Blackpool Council and Network Rail.
He said: “All this rubbish has been here for years and it creates a really bad impression.
“I’ve been in touch with Network Rail and Blackpool Council but I don’t seem to be getting anywhere.
“The bushes need to be cut down for them to reach the rubbish and sort it out.”
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We are treating reports of fly‑tipping at Harrowside Bridge as a priority. If the waste is found to be within the railway estate, we will act to ensure the site is cleared.
“The railway is not a dumping ground, and clearing illegally dumped waste diverts taxpayers’ money away from maintaining and renewing vital rail infrastructure to keep trains safely on the move.
“We urge anyone who witnesses this activity on the railway to report it immediately to the British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.”
Blackpool Council’s street cleaning, waste management, and environmental services are carried out by Enveco NW Environmental Services, a company wholly owned by the council, which empties over 1,000 litter bins daily, removes fly-tipping, and maintains 90 parks across the town.
A spokesman for Enveco said they were looking into the matter.
