Police have launched an investigation after reports that a female had been attacked at Carleton Crematorium.

    A police statement says,

"We were called at about 6.45pm yesterday (Tuesday, April 7th) following reports that a female had been attacked at Carleton Crematorium, Stocks Lane in Poulton le Fylde.

"Officers attended and found the victim, a woman in her 30s, with a number of stab wounds. Thankfully her injuries were not life threatening.

"She was taken by ambulance to hospital and was later discharged.

"A man in his 30s was arrested a short time later on Low Moor Road on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.

"The victim and the suspect were known to one another.

"An investigation is underway and enquiries are ongoing and as part of our work we are appealing for information."

Det Insp Chris Hammond, of Blackpool Police, said: “This assault left the victim with a number of injuries, and it is only a matter of good fortune that she wasn’t more seriously hurt or even killed.

“Whilst we have made an arrest our enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who can help to come and speak to us.”

“I am especially keen to speak to anyone who either witnessed the incident itself or who has any footage such as CCTV, dashcam, ring doorbell or mobile. This could be from the area around the crematorium itself or between the crematorium and the Low Moor Road area.

“We have a team of detectives working on this inquiry and people may see us out and about today as we go about our work. If you have any information or concerns, please feel free to approach and speak to us.”

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting log number 1219 of April 7th.
